Ethical SIMS by Holly, Rochelle, Megan, and Yuni

It is very moving and sad to hear the pain and anguish that many people go through day to day. It hurts my heart that some of them were thinking that they don't see what RN's do and that they feel like we don't do our job. I know that I became a nurse because I feel compassion in my heart for anyone that is suffering and I want to do anything I can to help them get through their suffering. I wish they would understand that nurses work hard to get through school and work hard at work to do their job and take care of their patients. Just like any other occupation their are the few people that don't enjoy their job and portray that through their work. Patients need to remember that we are human and we do the best we can everyday.

I agree Holly, it was interesting to hear the voices of others in a forum where we, as future nurses can hear there concerns. It was cool.

Interesting post. From your post, it seems like we had very different experiences chatting with members of this group. In yesterday's chat many of them commented about how they've had better experiences with nurses/nursing care vs. experiences with Dr.'s. A couple of them said that nurses were the ones who take the time to listen to them... It's always nice to hear patients feel like someone involved with their health care actually cares about them- the person, not just "the patient."

It seems to vary so much from patient to patient as far as satisfaction with their nurses. Like you said, some people can translate a few miserable nurses into 'all' nurses being miserable. It would be nice if nurses had more time to spend with each patient, like they did years ago, but that is not the case. Hopefully we can make more happy than not.
